SAVANNAH, GA (December 10, 2014) On Saturday, December 6th the SCMPD’s Islands Precinct joined forces with local martial artist, James Finizio, of Gracie Jiu Jitsu Savannah to educate the public on burglary prevention and women’s self defense.

The class began with a thirty minute lecture detailing CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) principles along with more traditional “target hardening” tactics to frustrate and prevent burglars.

Following the lecture a free, two hour long women’s self defense seminar was held. With participants between the ages of 15 and 70, everyone was able to walk away with some new knowledge and a greater sense of well being.
