SAVANNAH, GA ( March 28, 2011) The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police will be joining the Duluth Police Department C.O.P.S Division as they host Operation Drive Smart Expo for the students of Islands High School.
The program is brought to the school by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in partnership with the Duluth Police Department. Under a grant through the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Duluth Police Department is able to travel to high schools throughout the state with the Operation Drive Smart Expo.
The Drive Smart Expo consists of stations which discuss the importance of teen safe driving. Such stations include the Seatbelt Rollover Simulator and DUI Golf Cart, Chatham County Fire Department, Georgia State Patrol Safety Education Unit, the Georgia Motor Trucking Association, and Emory Flight/Rescue Air. The goal is to reach as many teens as possible through educational intervention.
The Expo will be for the students of Islands High School, 170 Whitemarsh Road on March 29, 2011 from 8:15am-3:00pm. The event will be held on the field located off the student parking lot
