SAVANNAH, GA (March 7, 2012): Traffic on White Bluff Road was diverted for several hours for the second day in a row today after a construction crew working on the Truman Parkway expansion ruptured a gas line.
Traffic going both north and south was halted and diverted twice by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police traffic units from about 11:30 a.m. until just after 4 p.m. Georgia Natural Gas crews had to dig up part of White Bluff Road to repair the leak. The road was closed between Holland Drive and Windsor Road.
On Tuesday, White Bluff Road was closed between Wilshire Boulevard and Holland Drive to address the earlier gas leak.
Construction crews working in the area near Clover Village and Vernon Marsh apartments struck the gas line, prompting the evacuation of several apartments in the immediate area as a precaution.
