SAVANNAH, GA ( May 25, 2011) Savannah-Chatham Metro Police observed Kenneth Paul Edwards, 20, strolling around during a recent gun show. EDWARDS had been brought to their attention because he had attempted to purchase a gun and was denied because he was a convicted felon. EDWARDS had lied on the Firearms Transaction Record.
The FTR is the federal form required to purchase a firearm from a dealer. He stated he was NOT a convicted felon. Records indicate he has been convicted of at least one felony in South Carolina. EDWARDS was a patted down, as is any subject that is being questioned. During the questioning he admitted to having marijuana in his pockets. EDWARDS was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana less than an ounce. This is an ongoing investigation. More charges could be pending.
