SAVANNAH, GA (January 1, 2015): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police continue to search for the man who carjacked a Nissan Altima after finding the teenaged girl he kidnapped safe and unharmed and the car abandoned this morning.
Metro Police are searching for the male who took the silver 2015 Nissan in a robbery about 3:30 a.m.
The kidnap victim, Desiree “Desi” Jewell Noonan, 16, of Ridgeland, SC., walked up to a Central Precinct officer who was participating in an intensive grid search to find her about four hours after the abduction.
The officer was on foot at Montgomery and West 42nd streets when she walked out of a rooming house where she said she had been hiding in a bathroom. She said she had jumped out of the car when it stopped for a traffic sign immediately after the abduction.
The car was found on West 52nd Street near the Derenne Middle School about 9:20 a.m.
The teenager had been riding in the car with two women and a man when the suspect who one of the occupants of the car casually recognized asked for a ride. The suspect asked to stop at a house on Ogeechee Road near Sadler Street, then produced a handgun and ordered all occupants except the teenager out of the car. He forced her to remain.
He was described as a black male, between 5-foot-5 and 5-9, about 180 pounds, wearing black cargo pants, a black shirt and a brown jacket.
