SAVANNAH,GA ( May 15, 2012) A 38-year-old burglary suspect faces multiple charges after burglarizing a house and fighting with a police officer who stopped to question him today.
Michael Dermaine Jackson, 38, of a Hagood Street address, was taken into custody about 1 p.m. at a convenience store at Derenne Avenue and Bull Street by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.

A pistol and jewelry taken in the burglary and other jewelry were found in the car along with less than an ounce of marijuana. Police also discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest for probation violation. They found he already had pawned some jewelry items taken from today’s burglary in two pawn shops.
He has been charged with burglary, theft by receiving, felony obstruction, possession of marijuana and battery on a police officer. The officer injured in the struggle was treated at a clinic.
Islands Precinct detectives are continuing to investigate the burglary and others that could be related.
