SAVANNAH, GA (September 26, 2011): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police have identified a homeless man whose body was found in a Savannah canal Sunday but an autopsy to determine what killed him was inconclusive.
The body of Joseph William Sullivan, 39, was spotted by college students about 2:30 p.m. near West Oglethorpe Avenue and West Boundary Street. Responding Downtown Precinct officers recognized him as a homeless man they have seen in the area. He was identified through his fingerprints today.
SCMPD Criminal Investigations Division detectives continue to investigate the death of the man who originally was from Florida.
