SAVANNAH, GA (October 18, 2013): In a push to increase volunteer numbers, Savannah-Chatham County Animal Control will host an orientation class for new volunteers, Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m. in the animal shelter at 7211 Sallie Mood Drive.
Animal Control seeks volunteers to serve as: greeters, office assistants, animal photographers, event coordinators, groomers, property maintenance workers, kennel assistants, dog walkers, cat socializers, play area monitors, off-site adoption managers, veterinary service supporters, and foster coordinators.
“All they need is a kind heart and love for animals,” says Jodi Lewis, Animal Control’s Volunteer Coordinator. She adds, “Lack of experience is not a problem. We can train volunteers in any area of interest.”
Newly trained volunteers will be authorized to serve immediately after orientation.
Potential volunteers are asked to notify Lewis prior to orientation; although, walk-ins are welcome. Volunteers must be at least 17-years-old.
Lewis can be reached at (912)525-2151 or jlewis01@savannahga.gov.
