SAVANNAH, GA (April 28, 2015): The second suspect in a fatal shooting on Friday turned himself in to Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Monday night.
Za’Kee Jaquan Robinson, 19, of Thunderbolt surrendered at police headquarters after Homicide Unit detectives had announced publicly that they had warrants charging him with murder and aggravated assault.
Thelron Gregory Winbush Jr., 20, had been arrested earlier Monday and charged in the murder of Derek Johnson, 19, on the 2100 block of Glynwood Drive Friday night.
Johnson had been in a parked car with other individuals when a minivan drove by and someone in it began firing at the car. Detectives have confirmed that the intended victim was in the car.
The minivan sped away and the driver of the car drove Johnson to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment. He was transferred to Memorial University Medical Center where he died.
Shortly after the shooting, the minivan belonging to a relative of Winbush was located wrecked on the northbound entrance ramp to the Truman Parkway from Derenne Avenue. Robinson and Winbush were identified as the two men seen running from the scene.
