SAVANNAH, GA (November 27, 2014): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a one-vehicle crash Wednesday night that left both Tybee Island occupants in critical condition.
Carrie Cooper, 37, was transported by ambulance and Richard Burnsed, 47, was airlifted to Memorial University Medical Center after both were ejected into the marsh on US 80 East about 9 p.m.
Burnsed was driving a 2004 Toyota Tundra west on US 80 a half mile west of Fort Pulaski when he lost control of the pickup. The truck veered to the right, rotated clockwise off the north side of the roadway and flipped.
Officers from the SCMPD Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) continue to investigate.
