SAVANNAH, GA (June 20 2012) Two men were hospitalized Wednesday after their trucks collided.
Earl Leon Luke, 68, of an East Henry Street address, was admitted to Memorial University Medical Center in serious condition. James Jerome Palmer, 56, of an Augusta Road address in Garden City was admitted in “stable” condition.
Palmer was driving a blue 2012 Freightliner dump truck southbound on the 37th Street Connector and came to a stop at Ogeechee Road. Luke was driving a white 1999 Endeavor RV motor home that struck the rear of the stopped dump truck.
The force of the collision caused the front end of the motor home to collapse around Luke. He was extricated by Savannah Fire firefighters. Both roads were closed to traffic from all directions for approximately two hours.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) officers continue to investigate the 11 a.m. collision.
