Update: Dawontay Williams, 19, has been arrested in connection with the July 7 shooting at 49th and Florance Street. Williams has been charged with murder and two (2) counts of aggravated assault. He was taken into custody by Savannah Police on July 8.
SAVANNAH – Savannah Police Detectives are investigating a July 7 shooting at 49th Street and Florance Street that left one 16-year-old male deceased.
At around 2:30 p.m. officers responded to 49th and Florance Street for a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered a victim suffering from a serious gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Memorial Medical Center for treatment, and he later succumbed to his injuries.
