Update: The SPD Central Precinct at 1710 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd will serve as an alternate site for hosting back-to-school giveaways on Aug. 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Running simultaneously with the Savannah Impact Program’s event, the Central Precinct will also have backpacks, school supplies, after school snack packs, hygiene packs, and more available while supplies last.
This addition will replace the originally scheduled “Roll Call in the Street” event in Cann Park, which was changed due to a forecast of inclement weather.
Savannah – The Savannah Police Department will host its annual Back to School Bash on Aug. 2 at the Savannah Impact Program building, located at 2005 Waters Ave. This free public event will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
With bouncy houses, food, and a performance from Magic Marc, this family event provides kids with free book bags and school supplies for the upcoming school year, distributed on-hand by SPD officers while supplies last. The event will also feature music, games, and prizes.
Media is welcome. The event is free, and open to the public.
