SAVANNAH, GA (November 26, 2018) – Capt. Michelle Halford will take the helm as the new precinct captain at Southside Precinct effective today.
She will be replacing Capt. Joy Gellatly, who recently retired.
Capt. Halford is a native Savannahian, who grew up on the south side of the city and began her career with the Savannah Police Department in August 2000. She was promoted to the rank of captain in 2018 and was most recently assigned to the Office of Professional Standards. Throughout her career with the police department, she has gained valuable experience in various areas of the department, including patrol, homicide, robbery, narcotics and internal affairs.
“I am excited about the opportunity to lead the Southside Precinct of this department,” said Capt. Halford. “Capt. Gellatly has already done a great job leading this precinct, and I look forward to building upon her work there. I also look forward to meeting the residents, business owners and leaders in this area.”
Capt. Halford will be available to meet the public at Southside Precinct, 7804 Abercorn St., Suite 118, from 9-11 a.m. Nov. 30.
