SAVANNAH, GA (July 3, 2018) – A 31-year-old Savannah woman was arrested today after admitted to falsely reporting an armed robbery and sexual assault at her home in March.
Holley Frawley was booked into the Chatham County Detention Center today on charges of false report of a crime and reckless conduct.
On March 5, officers were called to her home in the 100 block of E. DeRenne Avenue, where she stated that a man who was posing as a delivery driver forced his way into her home. He then let two additional men inside the home. As two of the men collected items, the other raped her. She told police she retrieved a firearm and fired shots at the suspects, resulting in them leaving. She provided detectives with detailed descriptions of the men.
During the investigative process, Frawley admitted to detectives that she fabricated the story.
“The report of this crime was frightening to many Savannah residents, not just those who lived nearby,” said Maj. DeVonn Adams, of the Criminal Investigations Unit. “We took this crime seriously and investigated it to the maximum only to learn that it never occurred. This tied up the time and resources of our patrol officers, detectives and forensics unit. We take the false report of a crime very seriously, and we guarantee that anyone who is caught doing this will face criminal charges.”
