SAVANNAH, GA (January 27, 2019) – Savannah Police Violent Crimes detectives are investigating a Jan. 26 shooting at Days Inn on Abercorn Street that resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man.
Around 11:10 p.m. officers responded to Days Inn, 11750 Abercorn St., for a shooting in the parking lot. They found Stephanie Matthews, 35, who told police she shot Marquis Robinson. Robinson was not on scene when officers arrived but soon arrived at St. Joseph’s Hospital. After being evaluated, he was transferred by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries.
At the time of the incident, Robinson had two active warrants as it relates to domestic violence between him and Matthews.
The incident remains under investigation. No arrests have been made. Detectives are conferring with the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office.
