What is Savannah Night Out?
Inspired by National Night Out, SPD hosted our first ever Savannah Night Out in October 2023. This annual event kicks off the month of October by strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, while sending a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
How does it work?
Organized by SPD’s Community Engagement Division, Savannah Night Out is a community-building event that aims to strengthen relationships between neighbors and law enforcement, as well as promote neighborhood safety and camaraderie. Savannah Night Out involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials.
SPD has celebrated Savannah Night Out with live music, sidewalk chalk, face painting, bounce houses, chili and BBQ cook-offs, and more with the participation of various local vendors. Other activities and events have included block parties, cookouts, visits from local law enforcement and community leaders, parades, exhibits, flashlight walks, contests, and youth programs.
Savannah Night Out has proven to be an effective and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer community.
