Savannah – The sixth and last of the named suspects in the July 2 Oglethorpe Mall shooting turned himself into police custody on Thursday, July 31.
Franklin James, 16, will be charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a handgun by a person under 18 years old. Others already charged in connection with the mall shooting include Aujawan Hymon, Theron Robbins, Royce Haynes, Dahmil Johnson, and Johnathan Jones.
“I want to commend our investigators, partner agencies, the U.S. Marshals, and the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office for their hard work and dedication to this case,” said Lenny B. Gunther, Savannah Chief of Police. “They have made it clear that those who inflict gun violence in on our city will be held accountable.”
The Savannah Police Department would like to extend its thanks to the public for providing tips and information that greatly assisted law enforcement in this case
