Homeless Outreach Patrol Enforcement
More than just a name for the unit, the letters “H.O.P.E.” represent the mission, focus, and strategic approach the unit utilizes to achieve their goals. We network with a variety of community partners to achieve these goals.
Homeless Outreach – We are OUTREACH-FIRST in our orientation when encountering a citizen experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to help people to move forward into a productive and fulfilling life with dignity.
Patrol – We aim to patrol and address homelessness and quality-of-life related issues before they become calls for service. This also includes regular patrols of areas of concern to include closed camps within our precinct to ensure they are not re-established.
Enforcement – We identify chronic repeat offenders. We work on homeless-related misdemeanor and lower-level felony warrants which patrol and CID do not have the capability to investigate. We assist CID and others in identifying and locating homeless victims and suspects in major crimes.
