Savannah – The Savannah Police Department is excited to once again take part in Savannah Night Out on Oct. 7 with participating neighborhoods across the community. Inspired by National Night Out, this annual event kicks off the month of October by promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Neighborhoods throughout Savannah have been encouraged to take part in the annual celebration by hosting their own celebrations. During the event, which runs roughly from 5-8 p.m., neighborhoods and churches host block parties, cookouts, or other community events. Savannah Police Department has been working with those groups to make sure there are officers present to talk to their residents in a casual environment about their concerns as well as learn more about law enforcement. It’s a great opportunity for officers to connect with Savannah youth as well, whether they’re connecting over a meal or playing a game of ball with them.
