Savannah – On July 25, the Savannah Police Department arrested Timothy Simpson, 32, for trafficking illegal drugs and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. This arrest was made with the assistance of the Chatham Savannah Narcotics Team (CNT).
At approximately 4:00 p.m., in coordination with CNT, SPD responded to information received from the public and detained Simpson pending the search of a residence in the 10 block of Hughes Ave. The search uncovered approximately 7.5 lb. of marijuana edibles, 0.5 lb. of psilocybin mushroom edibles, and approximately 2 lb. of marijuana.
An SPD K9 was deployed and alerted officers to another 16.9 lb. of marijuana near the residence.
“This was an outstanding collaboration between SPD and the Chatham Savannah Narcotics Team,” said Chief Lenny B. Gunther. “I’m especially proud of the work that the SPD K9 Unit has done in this case to help keep dangerous drugs out of our community.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers, 912-234-2020, or submit an anonymous tip through the SPD mobile app.
