SAVANNAH – The Savannah Police Department is investigating a May 19 shooting in the 700 block of E. 53rd St. that left an adult male with serious injuries.
At approximately 2:55 a.m., SPD responded to a ShotSpotter alert. Upon arrival on the scene, they discovered the female adult victim who stated someone had entered her residence and started shooting. While on the scene, officers received a report of an adult male suspect arriving at Memorial Health University Medical Center with gunshot wounds.
During the initial investigation, officers stopped Jamile Pointer, 19, near the crime scene and he was found to be in possession of a firearm. After being detained and questioned, Pointer was arrested and charged with burglary.
