SAVANNAH, GA ( June 15, 2011) This afternoon, just after 4 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call in the 1200 block of E. 70th Street. When they arrived they found shell casings on the street, but no vehicles. Minutes later a black Tahoe, riddled with bullet holes showed up at Memorial University Medical Center with five occupants. Four of them suffering from various injuries. There were two adults, a male and female and three juveniles in the vehicle. The male victim was suffering from a superficial gun shot wound. His injuries are non life threatening. The female and two of the juveniles received minor injuries from flying glass. Violent Crimes and Forensics responded Witness told police that two vehicle’s were on the street when the gun fire erupted. Both sped off at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle was believed to be a gold or yellow PT Cruiser. Around 6 p.m., Garden City Officers patrolling in the area of Highway 80 observed some smoke coming from the area of Old Louisville Road. The checked and found a vehicle on fire. The vehicle was a gold PT Cruiser fitting the description of the suspect vehicle. SCMPD Violent Crimes Detectives responded to the scene and were able to confirm that the vehicle was the suspect vehicle involved in the shooting. This is an ongoing investigation.
