Project Description

Johnny Hymon was murdered on August 20, 2005 around 2 a.m at the corner of Richards and Sugden Streets on Savannah’s west side. Family members said he was walking home with a friend. A neighbor reported hearing three gunshots and police found Hymon lying on the street. At the time police said it looked like an attempted armed robbery.

A black male who stood about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed about 130 pounds, was dressed in all black with a white bucket hat and had a gun in one of his hands was seen running from the scene.

Johnny’s friends called him “Jumpin’ Jack”. He’d worked for an electric company in New York for about 20 years before returning home to Savannah. He had a door-to-door car wash business here and was well-known on the west side.
