SAVANNAH, GA. (August 28, 2014): Wednesday, with the public’s help, Downtown Precinct detectives for Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department identified and arrested the suspect responsible for vandalizing Battlefield Park during the early morning hours of March 2.
Nineteen-year-old, Zackery Wilcox, of Kansas, a Ft. Stewart soldier, is charged with criminal damage to property in the 2nd degree and interference with government property. Both are felony charges.
In March, surveillance cameras captured footage of a Wilcox in his navy blue Ford Mustang, as he drove into Battlefield Park, located at Louisville Road and MLK Jr. Boulevard. The footage then shows Wilcox proceed to spin the car around in circles on the parade ground and monument section.
