SAVANNAH, GA (September 23, 2013): A 19-year-old Savannah man with an extensive history of arrests has been charged with murder in an Aug. 26 shooting death on West Gwinnet Street.
Randolph Lawrence Wilson III, who was incarcerated at the Chatham County Detention Center this weekend on violation of probation charges, has been charged by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives with the murder of Michael Lanier Wilson. The two men were not related.
Michael Wilson, 31, of the 1400 block of East 58th Street, was transported from the 500 block of West Gwinnett Street to Memorial University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead after the 6:34 p.m. shooting.
Randolph Wilson was arrested Sept. 9 on top of a house at East 40th and Ash streets where he had run to avoid patrol officers who had pursued him from reported burglaries on Isle of Hope.
He was charged then with two counts of burglary, theft by receiving (auto), obstruction by fleeing, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a drug related item and obstruction of an officer with harm/injury. He recently had been released from jail and was on probation with an ankle monitor.
