SAVANNAH, GA ( January 17, 2012) A juvenile is charged with making false statements after claiming he was robbed and shot on Sunday.
Just before 2 p.m., Southside officers were called to an Inglewood Drive address in reference to a shooting and armed robbery. The officers found five juveniles, including the victim who was suffering from a non- life threatening gunshot wound. The initial Investigation determined that no armed robbery had occurred and that the shooting was accidental.
A firearm was recovered from the bushes at a vacant house near the shooting. That firearm was later determined to have been taken in a burglary. On Monday Southside Detectives and CSU served a search warrant on a house in the 100 block of Inglewood Drive. During the execution of the search warrant a Mac book laptop was discovered, it was later determined to have been stolen during a burglary.
After an interview, it was determined the juvenile who lives at the home on Inglewood Drive did indeed have the gun at the time of the shooting and also admitted to the burglary in which the mac book was stolen. The juvenile is charged with the following: burglary (CRN 120103157), theft by receiving-firearm (CRN 120103006), false statements and writings, possession of a handgun by a minor, and false report of a crime. He was transported to the Savannah Regional Youth Detention Center.
