SAVANNAH, GA (April 2, 2013): The continuing investigation of Monday’s three-vehicle crash on the Back River Bridge has corrected which car crossed the center line.
Officers of the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department discovered in follow-up interviews and investigation that it was a beige Lexus sedan driven by Aimee Corley, 21, of Bluffton, that crossed the center line.
Corley and Ross Glatzer, 66, also of Bluffton, were airlifted by helicopter to Memorial University Medical Center after the 10 a.m. crash. A third driver, Faye Wiggs, 62, of Chesapeak, VA, was transported by ambulance to Memorial where she was treated and released.
Glatzer, originally reported to have been traveling south on the bridge in an SUV that crossed the line, actually was northbound behind a white Kia driven by Wiggs. The Kia was sideswiped by the southbound Lexus, which then collided with the SUV.
The investigation is continuing.
