SAVANNAH, GA (August 31, 2011): Quick responding Central Precinct officers arrested a suspect before some of his victims knew they were victims this morning.
Ronald Ervin Bragg, 49, of the 900 block of East Park Avenue, was arrested just before 3 a.m. with a tote bag containing items stolen from vehicles. He has been charged with five counts of entering autos.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police saturated the area after a resident of the 300 block of East 35th Street reported seeing a man entering an automobile and provided the responding officer with a detailed description. Two hours later another officer stopped Bragg, who fit the description, was jumping fences, bleeding and carrying the bag in a lane near East 33rd and Grove streets.
Included in the contents of the bag were a camera and a GPS which listed the 500 block of East Henry Street as its “home” location. Police checked with the resident of that address and discovered the GPS had been taken from a Jeep parked across the street.
Police also linked him to thefts from autos at 33rd and Lincoln streets, 500 block of East 31st lane and 500 block of East 34th. In all five incidents, windows were broken to gain entrance.
