SAVANNAH, GA (June 15, 2011): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a shootout in which one man received non-life threatening injuries, a house was hit with bullets and shotgun pellets, and a window was blown out of a pickup truck Tuesday night.
Jeffrey Williams, 22, was transported to Memorial Health Medical Center after the 9:30 p.m. shooting in the 1100 block of East 40th Street and underwent surgery for the wound. He is refusing to cooperate with the investigation.
He was found lying on the ground with a handgun nearby. Glass from the window of a vehicle and shell casings were found in the street, indicating several shots had been fired toward Williams.
Witnesses reported seeing a gray pickup truck speeding from the area with South Carolina license plate.
