SAVANNAH, GA (June 9, 2017) –  One person was injured and an investigation is underway after a pickup truck ran a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle.

Witnesses told Metro officers the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed about 4:10 p.m. when it failed to stop at a stop sign on Burroughs Street and struck a car traveling on Victory Drive. The truck flipped several times. When it came to a rest, both occupants fled on foot.  One occupant was subsequently apprehended.  An occupant in the car is being treated at a hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Several minutes prior to the crash, a Metro officer attempted to stop the truck in a parking lot in the 2300 block of Ogeechee Road. When an officer approached the stopped truck on foot, it fled. The officer was unable to pursue it.

The Georgia State Patrol was requested to work this motor vehicle crash, which occurred numerous blocks from the site of the attempted stop.
