SAVANNAH, GA (November 21, 2014) Children of Historic Christ Church on Johnson Square and employees of the Georgia Department of Transportation have donated more than 100 new stuffed animals to the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department to use in incidents involving children. Chief Joseph H. Lumpkin Sr., left, received the animals today from the Rev. Michael S. White, the church’s Rector. Children in the Church donated the animals as part of the Festival of St. Francis. They will be distributed to Patrol officers in the five precincts and with detectives in Violent Crimes and the Special Victims Unit to help comfort children who are caught up in events in which the officers respond.
