SAVANNAH, GA (October 19, 2017): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit (TIU) arrested a man for a hit-and-run that occurred in the 100 block of Johnny Mercer Boulevard, at approximately 4:00 a.m. on October 19. A car collided with a bicyclist.
Officers found Timothy Moody, 47, in the roadway, suffering from injuries from the collision. The involved vehicle left the scene prior to officer arrival.
Moody was transported to the hospital, where he remains in serious, but stable, condition.
TIU responded to the scene.
Through thorough investigation, it was determined Travis Ray, 26, was the driver who fled the scene. Ray was arrested and charged with hit and run, serious injury by vehicle, and improper passing of a bicycle.
