SAVANNAH, GA (March 1, 2019) – Savannah Police’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a crash that occurred the evening of February 28 involving a Savannah Fire Department truck and a citizen’s vehicle.
At around 9:25 p.m., a Savannah Fire truck was responding with lights and sirens to a vehicle fire on 36th and Burroughs streets. The truck was traveling west on 37th street when the driver attempted to turn right onto Burroughs Street. A Toyota Venza, driven by Laura Shuman, 51, of Bloomingdale, came up on the right side of the truck and struck the passenger front portion of the truck.
Shuman was transported with injuries, but is in stable condition. There were no injuries to any personnel in the fire truck. The TIU continues to investigate this crash.
