SAVANNAH, GA (November 10, 2017) – Metro’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a three-vehicle crash that resulted after a man fled from a traffic stop today.
Around noon an SCMPD officer attempted a traffic stop on a Toyota Corolla driven by Jermonte Murphy, 39, for a traffic violation. After the officer made contact with Murphy, Murphy fled from the traffic stop, going south on Truman Parkway from Anderson Street. He exited off Truman Parkway at Victory Drive and ran the Victory Drive red light. Murphy’s vehicle struck the rear of a Chevrolet Silverado, which was driven by Paul Water, 44. The Silverado spun, striking a Toyota Tundra that was stopped in the eastbound lane of Victory Drive and was driven by Bristal Holloway, 38.
Murphy was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
