UPDATE: A Central Precinct officer searching more than six miles from the incident found the abandoned car and the child unharmed near the Exchange Club fairgrounds about 8 a.m. Officers from all Metro precincts, canine, aviation and Criminal Investigations units as well as the GBI had participated in the search. SAVANNAH, GA. (April 6, 2014): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are asking the public’s help in locating a green SUV that was stolen this morning with a sleeping child in the back seat.
The green Dodge Durango loaded with newspapers and bearing Georgia Tag AZA 7084 and displaying a skydiver’s emblem in the rear window was stolen about 4:45 a.m. Sunday when the driver, a newspaper delivery person for the Savannah Morning News, stopped at the Parker’s convenience store at Derrenne Avenue and Skidaway Road.
A white male appearing to be in his mid- to late-20s jumped in the vehicle and drove away. He is described as 5-8 to 5-9, weighing 125-135 with a crew cut hair style. He was wearing a blue short sleeve shirt and blue pants.
Christopher Grayson, 12, was asleep in the back seat. He is a white male with sandy brown hair and brown eyes standing about 4 feet tall and weighing 60-65 pounds. He has a red mark on the left side of his face and was wearing red pajamas.
An Amber Alert has been posted through the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Anyone with information on the location of the vehicle, suspect or Christopher is asked to call Emergency 911 immediately.
