SAVANNAH, GA (October 15, 2018) – Savannah Police quickly made an arrest in a homicide that occurred Oct. 14.
About 9:15 a.m. Oct. 14 officers responded to the 1200 block of Elliott Street after someone spotted a vehicle belonging to William “Billy” Long, 82, who had recently been reported missing. Tony Locklear, 56, was located near the vehicle and was taken in for questioning.
During the investigation, officers and Violent Crimes detectives discovered a body in the area of E. Lathrop Avenue and Bay Street. The body was positively identified as Long. His body was transported to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
Locklear was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center on a murder charge.
The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
