UPDATE (October 29, 2020): Michael Pruitt has been located and charged in connection to the investigation.

OCTOBER 16 UPDATE: Further investigation into this case revealed that the shooting involving two 12-year-old girls was accidental. On October 9, the girls were at a residence when one of them accidentally fired a gun, injuring them both. The girls received non-life-threatening injuries and are no longer in the hospital.

Initially, SPD received reports that an adult relative and the two girls were at Hitch Park when two teens attempted to rob the adult. This attempt allegedly resulted in one of the suspects firing shots, striking both girls. Detectives determined that was not factual.

SAVANNAH, GA (October 9, 2020) – Savannah Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that resulted in the shooting of two female juveniles today.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a local hospital on a report of two girls, both 12-years-old, who were transported there by private vehicle, with non-life-threatening shooting injuries. Reportedly, an adult relative and the girls were at a park located on the 3900 block of Boyd Street. Two unknown suspects approached the group in an attempt to rob the adult. The attempt resulted in one suspect firing shots, which struck the victims. The adult was uninjured.

The suspects are described as black males in their late teens. Both are reported to have worn dark clothing during the incident.
