SAVANNAH, GA(November 5, 2019) – The Savannah Police Department homicide detectives and the families of Clarence Fleming and Desmond Lanier met today to request assistance from the public in the unsolved double homicide from 2017.
Just prior to 11 p.m. May 5. 2017, officers responded to the intersection of Georgia and Mississippi avenues and discovered Lanier, 25, deceased from gunshot wounds. Fleming, 23, was transported to a hospital where he later died as a result of wounds sustained in the shooting.
“We can’t solve these cases without the help of the community,” Detective Jacob Schroyer said. “We’re coming today with the families to ask anyone with any information to please step forward. We want to make sure these two men aren’t forgotten. We aren’t going to forget them, their families aren’t going to forget them, and their cases matter. We want to try to continue to work toward a resolution in apprehending the people responsible for this incident.”
Parents of both men took turns addressing the media to ask for assistance in solving the cases.
“It’s been very hard for me,” said Karen Bonds, Flemings’ mother, reiterating similar statements from the other family members. “Please if anyone has any information, please call.”
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Tip Line at (912) 525-3124 or CrimeStoppers at (912) 234-2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
