SPD Apprehends Suspect in Possession of Drugs and Guns
SAVANNAH, GA (August 21, 2020) – Yesterday, Savannah Police’s Special Investigations Section (SIS) arrested and seized drugs and guns from a suspect who used a firearm during a domestic violence incident in June.
Following the incident, the Family Violence Unit requested SIS’ assistance to apprehend Marcus Rashad Allen, 32, who was wanted for possession of a firearm by a felon, battery (DVA), and aggravated assault.
Officers began to gather intelligence on Allen, which allowed them to locate him on August 20 in the area of Rainbow Court. When officers attempted to make contact with him, he fled on foot but was apprehended shortly after. While fleeing, officers witnessed Allen throw a handgun into a small body of water, which they recovered. During the investigation, officers also seized a stolen rifle and a bag that contained drugs and drug-related objects.
Officers served Allen with his above warrants as well as charged him with trafficking ecstasy, possession of a controlled substance (meth), possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone), possession of marijuana offenses, possession of drug-related objects, criminal trespass and multiple firearm violations.
