This afternoon at 5:00 p.m., Spc. Joshua Layton, and Spc. Bryan Scott, both 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade Soldiers with 2-3 General Support Aviation Battalion “Knighthawks.” Will be honored in a ceremony on Hunter Army Airfield.
The soldiers will be receiving honors from the Army and a Citizen Commendation from the Police Department. The highest award a citizen can receive for an act of valor. Major Richard Zapal will be presenting the awards.
Chief Willie Lovett stated “ Not every day do citizens step forward to help out. It showed determination and courage, and is a wonderful example of how our partnership with the community has led to a reduction in crime. These soldiers already do a great thing by serving our country, now they have done a great thing in their own community. They were clearly in the right place at the right time, and we thank them.
