SAVANNAH, GA (March 16, 2015): Late Sunday night, Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Accident Investigations Team responded to a one car wreck that claimed the life of a Hinesville soldier.
Just before 11:30 p.m., Metro responded to Chief O.F. Love Road and Basin Road, were they found a 2014 BMW 3351 occupied by Matthew Caron, 28, overturned in the roadway. Caron was heading south when he drove off of Chief O. F. Road, striking a concrete barrier. The vehicle continued south into a ditch, before flipping over and striking a tree. The vehicle came to rest facing north on the east side of the roadway.
Caron was pronounced dead at the scene. He was an active duty solider stationed at Ft. Stewart.
MAIT continues to investigate.
