SAVANNAH, GA (March 23, 2012): Sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students from Savannah Christian Middle School donated a truck-load of pet food to the Savannah –Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Animal Shelter Friday.
The food, in small containers collected by some 300 students in a four-day period, filled the extra long bed of an Animal Control pickup truck. The project was initiated by the school’s Student Government Association.
Lt. Brenda Boulware, director of the Animal Control Shelter, thanked the students and explained that the extra food will allow the center staff to keep animals longer to enable them to find new homes.
