SAVANNAH, GA (October 27, 2010): The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Major Accident Investigations Team are investigating an accident that has left one man dead and one man in jail.
Today at 3:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to Telfair Road and Gwinnett Street after receiving reports of an accident between a vehicle and a motorcycle.
Officers found the driver of the Suzuki Motorcycle, Cody Burman, 27, suffering from life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Smith, 57, was also on scene and questioned by investigators.
It was determined that the motorcycle was traveling north on Telfair Road, the vehicle was traveling south and attempted to make a left turn, when it turned into the path of the motorcycle.
Cody Burnman was pronounced dead at the scene. Anthony Smith has been arrested and charged with DUI-less safe, driving while suspended, failure to yield while turning left, and homicide by vehicle in the 1st degree. This is an ongoing investigation.
