SAVANNAH, GA (August 25, 2014): Crime Prevention Officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department are seeking help from the public to prevent Scooter, Moped & Motorcycle Thefts with a new program: S.M.M.A.R.T. (Scooter, Moped & Motorcycle, Anti-Theft & Retention Tactics).
The program is the concept of Central Precinct Crime Prevention Officer, APO Barry Lewis. It encourages citizens to be S.M.M.A.R.T Thinkers by using 12 Common Sense Tips to reduce their chances of becoming a target for thieves. These tips are listed on the attached flyer and include ideas on where and how to park, where not to park, how to add anti-theft devices to your scooter, moped or motorcycle and other suggestions.
