Shortly after midnight on May 10, 2010 , police began looking at a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup abandoned along the wood line, near a pavilion at Kings Ferry Boat Ramp. The truck was parked awkwardly, with its windows rolled down and several items inside, including keys, a cell phone and fishing poles, according to a metro police report. A check of the vehicle tags disclosed Everett as the owner.
Police then turned their attention to the park at Kings Ferry, embarking on a search that ended about 9:30 a.m., when the body was discovered by a Richmond Hill police dog about 100 yards deep in the woods.
The investigation has developed two persons of interest that SCMPD are trying to identify. Attached are pictures of a white male and white female that were in possession of Mr. Everett credit cards moments after his death. There is also a picture of a white pickup truck that the two were believed to be traveling in. The two were last seen in Dunn, North Carolina.
Det. Shinita Young was the initial lead detective in this case, the case now is assigned to Homicide team 1.
