SAVANNAH, GA (August 2, 2011): A procession of Porsches will tie up traffic for a brief time Saturday as the Porsche Club of America winds down its weeklong annual meeting.
Approximately 200 of the two-seater German sports cars are expected to participate in the 2:30 p.m. procession from the Westin Savannah Harbor hotel on Hutchinson Island through Savannah and back to the hotel.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police extra duty officers will be directing traffic along the route. Some will man some key intersections while others will accompany the procession. Sgt. David Gay said only minor traffic delays should occur along the route.
The procession begins at the Westin on Hutchinson Island, travels south on the Talmadge Bridge, exits onto Oglethorpe Avenue and continues east through Downtown. It will turn north on East Broad, east on President Street and south on Truman Parkway, exiting south onto Whitfield.
It then travels east on Shipyard, north on Ferguson, south on Skidaway, north on Bluff Drive, north on LaRoache and west on Delesseps Avenue. The route then turns north on Truman Parkway, exits onto President Street heading west, turns south on East Broad, west on Oglethorpe to the Talmadge Bridge and back across the bridge to return to the Westin.
