On June 5th, just after 9 a.m., the owners of the Sing’s discount, located on Quacco Road were setting up the store, when an armed robber walked in and demanded they open the safe.
The would-be-robber pointed a gun a the store owner’s wife, and demanded money. The store owner stepped in front of his wife – which was in front of the gun- and told the robber they could not open the safe. That’s when the robber shot the husband striking him in the neck. He then fled the store empty handed.
An officer was passing by and was flagged down. EMS was called and responded to treat the husband. He refused to be transported to the hospital because his injuries were minor. He was wearing two medallions around his neck and the bullet hit the medallions, therefore deflecting the bullet. He received a minor laceration where the medallion dug into his skin.
The suspect is described as a black male, 20’s, 5’8″-5’10″, thin, long black T-shirt, black pants, with dreads and a goatee, carrying a silver 380 semi automatic hand gun.
Remember, anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
