SAVANNAH, GA (July 22, 2012) Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are trying to identify a motorcyclist who crashed into the side of a tractor-trailer rig at a high rate of speed this morning.
The black 2004 Yamaha XVS65 was traveling west on US 80 when it failed to stop for a traffic light and crashed into the side of a 2006 Volvo tractor pulling two trailers at Dean Forest Road about 1:30 a.m.
Truck driver Aaron Alton Graham of Ellanwood, GA was not injured.
Garden City Police had seen the accelerating motorcycle and had turned to initiate a traffic stop seconds before the crash. The white male motorcyclist carried no identification and the Yamaha bore a temporary paper license plate. He was wearing blue jeans, boots and a brown printed T-shirt. No helmet was found in the wreckage.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) of SCMPD is continuing to investigate.
