SAVANNAH, GA (September 28, 2011): Savannah police, firefighters and a Chatham County sheriff’s deputy will take on teens and young adults from two neighborhoods in friendly basketball games to help build relationships tonight and Thursday night.
Family and Friends Youth Day will be held at Grant Community Center at 1310 Richard Street today at 5:30 p.m. The lawmen and firefighters will take on youth-adults (16-19-year-olds) from the neighborhood. Townsley Chapel A.M.E. Church will sponsor a cookout for the attendees and spectators.
Another basketball game is scheduled at 5z:30 p.m. Thursday, at the John Delaware Community Center, 1815 Lincoln Street ,with youth-adults from the Thomas Square area.
“Our goal is to build relationships with our young people,” said Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Central Precinct Juvenile Officer Gregory Sublett.
The games are open to any youth who cares to play.
